Replace beater bar belt on Model 116 38099890?

How do I open my Model 116 38099890 to replace the belt that drives the beater bar? Please! I read the info on another Model 116 but it must be a much newer one than mine because the instructions did not seem to fit with my sweeper, I do not have a light on mine.
