150W bulbs with halogen filaments?

There are standard shaped bc light bulbs available now with halogen filaments. Do these run hotter than the normal bulbs? Are they likely to scorch the lamp shade that the normal bulb has not?

The ones I have are 60W halogen in a BC holder with a regular sized screw on glass globe. If anything the outer globe is very slightly cooler than a regular 60W tungsten bulb - but there's not much in it.

After all - 60W is 60W - a mixture of a little bit of light and lots of heat.

I'm not sure that the BC holders are rated to cope with a 150W halogen - as for scorching the shade - that will depend on how long it's left on and how close the lamp is to the shade.
