Drayton RF2 wall unit -put in new batteries still not illuminated?

The unit was working replaced batteries in other units OK put new batteries in this one now it won't illuminate at all even putting old batteries back which did work tried trick of bending prongs out a bit no luck -----wish I hadn't replaced them now. anyone any ideas ???????
