Mend Peugeot Vivacity 50 Bought Great Bike

vivacity 50 cuts out?

my son has just bought a vivacity 50 on a 2005 plate, great bike, however he gets half a mile down the road and looses power, cuts out then won't start again...he has to walk it for a while then try again and it starts. The petrol is full, the oil is full the battery is full. any ideas as he is dying to take it out for a real ride :-(

i have a peugeot trekker 50 runs ill it warms up then dies i let it sit for 20 mins and it will eventualy fire but will take a few mins after startin before it will take a rev any ideas anyone ?

he needs to check to see if it has a spark just after it has died,this is a classic symtom of a failing primary igntion coil.they get to a certain temperature and then stop working once the coil cools down it starts to work again.also try riding it with the fuel cap loose in case it has a vaccum building up in the fuel tank.

this doesn't sound like fuel starvation but could be(see my answer to 'my Aprilia rs125 keeps dying on me') but first, i think i would check things like ignition cicuit (heavy key fob that turns the ignition off?) emergency cut-out for water ingress/loose wires inside switch body,you're looking for loose or dirty/wet connections, loose fitting spark plug cap, check plug gap and plug grade are correct, fit a new one anyway.
