Mend Iveco Air Normal Minutes

Air brakes releasing air?

Is it normal for the air brakes to keep releasing air? Its a 1994 Iveco cargo Horsebox. When idling it kept releasing air every few minutes. Im about to buy it, it drives great but Im concerned about this.

Hi, thanks for replying again. I havent a clue about the valves sorry. Im a non mechanically minded female hoping not to buy a money pit. Just wondered if this air releasing was a sign of something more serious.

thanks for getting back ,..does your vehicle have the covernor valve built in to the air drier ,or is it a seperate governor valve ??? though if the vehicle is ok in all other respects ,may be best to live with it ..

Thanks Phil. I noticed it when it was stood running. It kept blowing off every couple of minutes. On the test drive I heard it a couple of times. I mentioned it to a HGV driver friend who said his does it and its just a valve that needs adjusting??? The air pressure gauge seemed constant at arround 10. It has just this week gone through its plate. My last horsebox had a leak and it lost air pressure quickly and I had to wait for it to build up before it would move. This was a younger wagon though.

not 100% sure what you mean ...what should happen is when the vehicle is at it's regulated pressure you will here it blow off and there will be a slight change in the engine note ... if it is continually blowing off ,then there is probably an air leak somewhere in the system, and the compressor is constantly having to keep building air ...i take it ,the bowing off is constantly happening when at idle
