hotpoint aquarus?

on selection of spin, drum starts its spin cycle, ie rotates slowly back and forth but will not increase to full speed.
Any clues as to what the cause is, would be much appreciated many thanks..... Bob

It sounds like the carbon brushes in the motor are worn down and need replacing, have a look at this website www.apart4u.co.uk, it shows you a short video clip on how to carry out this sort of repair.
