Error 2?

When this first came up couple of years ago i cracked it at the time ie it was the speed sensor which had "broken", really all it was a piece of wire which goes near the motor pulley, i placed a bit of copper wire so that it nearly touched the meta disc on the pulley when it went round. Today error 2 came up again and will not respond to my makeshift gadjet. So any idea's would be appreciated . Thanks
