Mend John Deere BC1600 Working

problem starting?

I have a John Deere BC 1600 Line Trimmer. It appears the choke is working and when I push on the primer bulb it fills with gas. However it will not start unless I remove the spark plug and pour the fuel mixtre dircetly into the engine. It then starts and runs fine.
Any ideas as to the cause and how to fix????
