Mend Horstmann H37 Overheating Heating Element

Horstmann H37 overheating?

My Horstmann H37 seems to be overheating and is omitting a smell as if an element is too hot (like a new kettle or new appliance the 1st time it is used.) Afraid to switch on in case do any real damage.

What could be wrong with it?????
