How can I fix my Polti Vaparetto 2300 steamer?

The steam is escaping from the safety cap so I bought a new cap believing it was the seal on the old cap that was broken but the problem is still there, each time I put the steamer on as soon as it has heated up the steam just explodes out of the top cap. Is there something else that needs replacing?
