how can i fix my stannah stairlift?

i have recently bought a stannah stairlift,model 300.It was working perfectly when i collected it but now trips out when under load.if i get off and walk along side it ,it works perfectly.One thing i had to do when taking it out was to cut the wire underneath to allow it to seperate in the middle,which i have now reconnected.Thanks
