My old zanussi turbodry isn't drawing in any water?

When you connect the machine up, the power comes on but when you select a cycle, a little splash of water is drawn into the powder chamber but then nothing. If you advance the cycle the drum motors and you can hear the pump running but no water is drawn in. I have cleared the inlet filters, checked the voltage across the solenoid valves and on the levelling sensor..but still nothing. The water is definately turned on at the mains. Any ideas?
