Mend Ford Escort Engine Light

engine codes?

my 97 ford excort check engine light stays on and I went to auto zone, they check your code for free,and he said the code reads p-1131 something to do with fuel air metering and said I will need to take it to the dealer to find out what it is but to take it to a dealer, that's big bucks! can i fix it myself? IF so what do I do?

Basically you need a new airflow meter. They are about £25 from scrappy seconhand and take about 30 minutes to fit.
