Mend Philips 725 Tape Machine Rewind

My Philips 725 Tape machine Play keeps stopping?

Hi,
My Philips 725 Tape Machine will rewind, fast forward straight from rewind, but when it does play it then keeps stopping and I can't get it to play again, any ideas please??
