1) Step 1: to undo the nozzle: lift up lamp cap on motor. turn the belt lifter handle completely in order to disengage the belt from the motor shaft (points to red arrow now). open the little latch and the nozzle will come off the motor.
2) Step 2: to change the belt: open the 2 little levers in back of the nozzle base plate and remove the plate now. turn the belt lifter again (towards the green arrow) and the belt will come loose. lift out the brush roller, take away old belt from it.
slip new belt on it and reseat brush roller into nozzle.
NOTE: the white plastic end contains a magnet, this end must be at the green indicator light's copper coil.
NOTE: the square bearings have different sides, numbered 1, 2 and 3. start with inserting the brush showing "1" on both ends.
(later, when the bristles have worn down in the course of years, you may want to change to 2 or even 3, so that the bristles show out again from the suction opening)
now reattach the baseplate to the nozzle by starting with the 2 hooks at the front, flip down shut and fixate the plate by shutting the 2 little levers in the back. check for good seating all around the rim.
3) Step 3: to reattach the nozzle: look in the suction port in its back and turn the belt lifter knob to make sure the inner hook tightens the belt upwards (red arrow). now you can reattach the nozzle to the motor and fasten it with the lever. turn the belt lifter knob again into "green" and the belt will slip down onto the motor shaft. the Kirby is ready now. lower the lamp housing.
hope this helps. good luck!
