Two simple fixes come to mind. The first is to finalize your cd during the burning process(that is if we're talking home burned cd's of course). The reason is that even with cd players that will play multi-session discs, often times they cannot play unless finalized if the disc is almost full(I learned that the hard way). Another possibilty is a dirty lens, or a dirty disc. Make sure both are clean. If all else fails, just try contacting Phillips. Even if the player is no longer under warranty they should have some information on how to fix the problem.
