Mend Ford KA Ka Heater

Ford KA heater?

How do i heat up my Ford KA! I changed the thermostat and it is still blowing out cold air through the heater. The pipes are hot enough in the engine. Could it be an electrical problem? The fuses are fine too.

unplug the connection to the water control valve just to the rear of the engine, if this then gives you hot air then the problem is in the heater temp control switch/ adjuster in the center consol. To get to this first remove the radio, you need two wire "U" remover tools, remove two screws and pull the case away and remove the connections. Fit a new assembly. If the air was still cold on the first test then the valve is the problem, remove the plastic bits to get to it.

It is the heater control solenoid, situated under the scuttle trims at the rear of the engine. They are electrically operated solenoids, that open and close to allow the water to the heater. They can be found on Ebay for about £15.00 and can be changed in about 1 hour by the average DIY mechanic.
Don't let the engineer take you for a ride, if he had to go away and think about it, he is not much of an engineer.

have you tried changing the heater control valve located under the bonnet, two pipes go to the valve from the thermostat housing (depending on the year of your Ka)

try replacing the heater valve .its under the bonnet.you will have to remove the scuttle trims (can be a bit tricky on a ka)but is a common fault

I have the same problem , I have also had the heater matrix checked and all ok, thermostat has also been changed but there seems to be no fuse for this problem. I have been informed that it could be the switch unit located under the radio/cd player that has gone and would need replacing.
I have had an engineer out today to give it the once over he took the chasis number so he can get me a quote.
