Mend Toyota Avensis T Spirit D-4D Engine

Toyota Avensis T Spirit D-4D (2004)?

The engine stars fine but after less than a quarter mile it cuts out. I switch off and on the engine and it restarts. This only happens first thing in the morning from cold. I have had the diesel fuel rail renewed and the fuel filter renewed but the problem still exists. I had the car tested at the local Toyota dealer but they never came up with the correct answer - it is not an injector problem. Anyone any ideas.
