Hotpoint wd61 cycles b,c,d?

When I try to use cycles B C or D, The machine starts drawing water in as normal but suddenly abruptly stops.
I can hear the motor - I think its still drawing in more water - But nothing happens. I have left it for upto an hour but still no movement and the motor is still humming.
The only way I can resolve this is by turning the machine off and changing the program to another cycle.
I have no problems with any other programs.

This may have no bearing, but I live in England and thereore the machine I am using is an English 240v model.

Any advice would be very helpful
