How can I fix my DVD player (pioneer dv-333)?

My pioneer dv-333 remote no longer works. The machine has very little use and now it seems as if it no longer accepts a signal from the remote control. I tried programming my cable remote (at&t uverse) and that did not work either. I tried fresh batteries in both remotes as well - no luck.
