Your Line Speed is a function of the length and quality of the line. However that line includes your Internal Wiring - for which you are responsible.)
So here are some tips on getting the best out of what you have: Ensure that your router is plugged into the Master Socket - NOT an extension.
ALL telephony devices MUST be connected via a filter.
Finally remove the faceplates of your telephone sockets and ensure that ONLY the following wires are connected: Blue & White to connector 2 and White & Blue to connector 5. NO OTHER wire should be connected because they can cause noise on your broadband connection.
Additionally, you say that "the Broadband is slow at times". Some ISPs are better than others at peak times. Products to avoid are Sky Connect and O2 Access.
