how can i fix my compaq preasrio cq 40 laptop?

Are you sure its not the charger. if the charger is faulty you will not get any power fom the lap top.
they will be nothing there at all.

its probally the power supply fault .laptops are hard to fix you self take it to a computer shop for a quote.
you should exspect to pay about £30.
