Your first answer is spot on corect, exept for the wd-40, it's
to havy for the job. watch cleaning fuel is safer. I didhave few
problems like this and by using the fuel all of the watches and clocks started tik -toking again.

It's likely that the watch has some issue that prevents it from running and your attempts to make it run by winding it will eventually wind the spring to its maximum capacity. Possible problems are simple dirt or corrosion, lack of lubrication, or broken or dislodged parts.
