Thomson DT16300 digital tv recorder will not play back recordings?

I also have aThomson DT16300 digital tv recorder but not only will it now not record programmes from the guide but will not play programmes already recorded. When you access library, it shows all the recordings and gives all the details about them but the small screen which normally shows the preview is completely blank and if you try and run the recording the tv screen just goes blank.
Can anyone help please.
