Mend Canon PowerShot E56 Camera Digital Error

how to make this camera work?

I bought my daughter a camera for xmas, and it is one of those cameras for dummies, well, now it has a E56 on the screen and wont come off! Now she can't even use the camera! How do I fix this?

try take the batteries out for a hour or two, and see you you get on .. it might get rid of it ,
