diplomat dishwasher?

my dishwasher model adp 8242 completes the cool cycle but when its put on any other cycle it just keeps going & going & wont switch off, dont think its heating up either, had man out & he said that it needs a new module, timer pcb which i have priced at £155. any ideas if he is right?
