Mend Zanussi Lock Code

My Zanussi WDJ 1257 door sometimes wont lock showing E40 code?

My zanussi WJD 1257 door lock occasionally won't lock and shows the E40 code. I have replaced the lock which seemed to solve the problem but it has returned. Am I just unlucky and need to buy yet another new lock or is it something more complicated. It repeatedly tries to lock and if I keep pressing the start button evenually it will start!!!

it could well be that the door is misaligned what could I do about this? anything?

you could be unlucky but does the pin go in to the lock central and is it in good condition.Has the door dropped making it misalign ?
Is the door gasket fitted correctly allowing the door to close without to much pressure.and is the door porthole glass clean and free of limescale?
Has the door hinge been strained?
Lots of reasons for this problem
