christmas tree lights voltage?

I also bought lights from America. I had a transformer made to allow them to work. I have now bought new UK lights so if you want any spare bulbs or the transformer. (bulbs free) Transformer I would sell cheap.Send me an email. I note how long ago you posted this so if no reply by Xmas 2008 I will be throwing the bulbs away. chalmers_michael@hotmail.com

Doubling the lights used to be an answer but is not any longer. Old style lights were in series and therefore 48 bulbs in a string meant they were 6v bulbs. This is no longer the case, a lot of modern lights have transformers. Christmas tree lights are really cheap now. Connecting a 110 set to 240v can be very dangerous in terms of a fire hazard, throw them in the bin.

THe UK runs on 220v, and the string you bought is 110v. Eiether double the number of lights in the strings, or change the bulbs, or add a resister in series to limit the current flow
