Mend Dualit JKT1GB Works Light Working

how can I fix my dualit chrome kettle?

my dualit chrome kettle - 5 years old - only works intermittently. The light goes on and off when it is or isn't working. It does eventually boil but can take ten minutes or more. I can't tell if the problem is the element in the kettle of the base itself. It's model JKT1GB. Any advice would be most welcome.
