i have a gilera dna 50 and am having trouble starting when warm. it starts fine when cold and ticks over good but as soon as i kill it and try to restart wen its warm it wont. ive checked the spark plug, compression and cleaned the carb out. any other ideas for what it could be???
ok cheers. ive checked the choke and thats ok. ive got a ht lead on order but the bike also blubbers (if you no what i mean) when opening the throttle and at high revs cuts out. will this be caused because of the ht lead??

p.s i take it it does smoke as if it doesnt then the problem may well be the fact that the engine is seizing auo partially when its hot.these dna 50s have a oil pump thats driven by a belt in the transmission and they snap and stop the oil being fed into the engine.

the choke wont do that marc it SHOULD smoke anyway if its ok and it wont make the revs go high when its hot only when its cold,a very rich engine may blow someblack smoke out but yours is a single cylinder 50cc 2 stroke and it should only be blue smoke even if its was megarich.the ht lead as bb said is the lead that goes from the cdi coil to the ht cap that goes onto the spark plug.

yeh its gt a decent spark when its cold. and if it was the choke sticking would that just make it smoke and have high revs?? when you say the HT lead is that the cdi unit??

the choke may be staying on?this will make it ok when its cold but not when its warm.have you checked to see if it has a spark when its cold?

Check the coil. Often if you have problems when hot its coil or HT lead breaking down
