how can i get the gas to light in the fridge?

wont be thermo couple,that only keeps the gas flowing when you let go of the valve.if gas has been replaced there maybe air in the pipes or check the pressure regulator on the gas bottle,replace it if in doubt,also check for a on/off tap,usually under a unit near the fridge,they tend to get turned off in winter,failing that remove fridge and clean out the jet,easy enough to do ,takes an hour or so to do.

Have you the instructions?
If a dealer purchase gas and elecs should have been tested for safety and working order. if private then go back and ask why it won't light.
Are you pushing in and holding the control while pressing the igniter? hold for around 10 secs and the flame should be seen through small window. If you've done this it may be the thermo coupler is faulty. Fridge mans job.
Thing to remember is purging air from system takes a bit of time so hold knob in a bit longer.
