Mend Engine Start Rope

why would engine kick back when trying to start?

When the rope is pulled the engine kicks back and rewinds the rope rapidly .What is the most likely cause?

Could be that your ignition timing has altered for some reason, or there is to much oil or fuel causing to high compression.

Have you hit something with the mower?
It sounds like either the blade is loose or the flywheel key has sheared.
