Mend Cannon Winchester Gas Hob

How can I fix my Cannon Winchester Gas Hob?

Mid cooking the large burner starts blowing flames under the burner ring and the flame turns yellowy orange.It also then creates a slight odour and covers the underside of the burner ring in soot. I have tried cleaning but this does not solve. I don't know the model number. The cooker is brown and beige with an eye level grill.
