Ariston 1535 cleaned impellor, but washer only half fills!?

Hi,
Our Ariston Magherita 1535 Washing machine has started filling about a 1/4 full, and then spining for a few seconds left, stopping, and spinning for a few seconds to the right. It won't compleltey fill with water and i have tried it on lots of different cycles.

I followed the instructions on http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=19333
, and found a 5 pence piece in the filter under the kick plate,
i then reset and tried to run a cycle again, but the same problem occured, i then set it to drain, and it drained all the water out and started to make a whirring noise... the dial then started clicking like many have experienced, but i had never had in the first place.
So i took the kick plate off again and cleaned out the filter, another 5pence piece was stuck in there....
reset...tried to wash out with a cycle 4 but the exact same problem.
