Machine has a small spring coil intended to return the speed trigger back to a neutral position. In working on my weed eater this past weekend, the spring slipped out when I disassembled the housing while trying to tighten the accelerator cable. I cannot find where this spring was located in the assembly and could not figure out where to re-install it. Consequently, I have only one speed which I can set manually with a screwdriver.
Hi, I have the EXACT same problem and can't figure it out. I've looked at the parts diagram on the Ryobi site but it's so small! I stopped into a local small engine repair place and was told that Ryobi's are sold by Home Depot and very few folks repair them. They must be considered to be disposable, but I can't really be throwing $100 down for another trimmer. If I get anything, I'll post it for you.
