My hotpoints WDM73 washer/dryer keeps display that I need to check my water?

Hi,
A friend has given me a hotpoint WDM73 washer/dryer. I put it on a C cycle and about 15/20 minutes the machine is beep beeping. When I checked it said on the infobubble to check my water supply. When I looked this up in the manual it said to check the water hose. I did this and to my knowledge the hose looks fine. The machine had no water left in it, yet the clothes were wet. The machine would not let me spin the clothes. Can you explain why this is happening, as this is the second time on 2 different cycles this has happened.
