Piaggio zip 2t died?

Year:2000; km=17000, Everything was runing ok, I came home and turn of scooter. 2 days later tryed to kick start but nothing happens, try electric start but no use. I got fuel, oil, good spark plug and everything, but spark plug gives no spark. It's weird that scooter wasnt died during riding but when being parked. How can I know if cdi is ok? Can someone help me to fix a problem, since I'm novice in scooters. My first scooter ever, I bought it last week.

Well, scooter start normally next day, so I didn't even read your answers but thank you anyway. Then it past few days and scooter wont start again., and after 5 hours it start. but now I have another problem. One is that when I start scooter or when I stop, scooter sometimes turns off by himself. But biger problem is that scooter don't accelerate any more from stand, like rpm is not high enough. Before he was starting so fast that I almost get lifted on rear wheel, but now it just wont accelerate, until I get 5-10 mph, then it accelerate ok up to 50-55 mph. But I cant start from 0 mph on hill, and if I allready have speed than is all ok. And I barely start on flat. Zip is not in original state, some changes has been made by previous owner, leo vince tt exhaust, and some other things I don't know the words on english for them. But scooter was maintained in certified service so I think that everything is done ok. And, one more thing, when I cold start scooter, and leave it to work for few minutes, during that time I can hear some sound like some metal part sometimes touches some other metal part, like for instance with tablespoon knocking on anvil. Is this normal?

thers nothing to the ignition system on these bike it has a generator with a primary igntion coil and pick up coil all built into one assembly,then the wires come out and go to the cdi/coil and unti that has a cdi unit and secondary igntion coil in one unit,this has a green wire that comes from the generator this green wire splits in two and then goes up into the loom all the way to the ignition switch and earths it when its tunred off and kills the spark.so in short its either the primary coil or pick up coil or the cdi/coil or the green wire coming from the cdi and up into the loom is either being earthed via a faulty switch or is touching earth somewhere. let me know what you find and let me know asap.ps sorry for my last suggestions as to why it wont go i misread your spark problem and thought you said it was sparking.

i agree with adam , but this would not explain no spark, are you sure this is the case and are you testing for a spark properly, if so and you defineteley have no spark then you need to replace cdi unit! if your engine has a lower compression than 90-100 then follow adams instructions

ok at a guess i would say that it has a partial seizure while you were riding it,this will have the exact symtoms you are on about as while the engine is running it is going fast enough to not allow the compression to get past the piston rings even though they are damaged,but as soon as you stop the engine it cannot be spun over fast enough with the kickstart or the starter motor to generte enough compression to make it run again.so if i were you i would get a compression test done and/or take the head and barrel off to have a look at the piston condition i would say it will be scored and blackened and the rings will be pinched in so they cannot spring out and seal with the barrel to create the compression needed.
