How can I fix 'sticking' rotary controls on a Mira 88 shower valve?

I have a Mira model 88 shower mixing valve that is approximately 18 years old. Over time the 'outer on-off' rotary control' no longer easily operates independantly of the 'inner temperature control rotary control'. Clearly over time limescale and/or some other contaminant has become 'wedged' between the two devices. I wish to take them off and thoroughly clean the interfacing surfaces to establish the original ease of operation.

My question is effectively in 2 parts.

1. How do I remove/dismantle the rotary control devices from the body of the mixing valve. There is no obvious means of attachment and I don't want to break them by merely trying to prise them off in the hope it is some form of 'push fit' fixing.

2. Is there any maintenance literature either on your web site or that you can provide me with to assist me with the task.

Thanking you in anticipation.

The Installation, Operation & Maintainance Guide for the Mira 88 is available for free by rining Mira's Customer Service Department on 0844 571 5000.
The Temp & Flow Knob are held in place by a circlip which is located behind the front disc which has Mira 88 printed on it. This just prises off. You might find the spindle has worn the splines on the knobs in which case you can buy repalcements from Mira direct or if the Internals are seized or worn, these can be replaced also at a reasonable cost. Mira also have a fixed price repair service for their own Engineer to repair the shower for you.

1, the centre one pulls off the their is a circlip to release the outer one.
the outer ones are a pig to get off.

the shower valve could probably do with a service kit when they go stiff.
