Miele Novatronic Premier w300?

The temperature is FAR too hot even on a low setting, in fact it turns to steam & even the powder dispenser is too hot too touch!Machine has been owned since 1996 & never had a problem before. As the machine is electronic am I correct in thinking this will be a costly circuit board replacement? Should I dump the machine & buy a new one given it's age?
