12HP Briggs and Stratton Model 283707?

scott your starter drive gear is stripped out take off the starter and replace the little plastic gear on top of the starter, some starters require you to pull off the flywheel from the top of the engine to access the bolt under it. loosen the nut on top of the flywheel and wedge a bar under the flywheel and hit down on the nut with a piece of brass and a hammer dont mushroom the shaft going through the flywheel. hope this helps, dont lose the flywheel keyway
