Hi I have a ford galaxy 2.3 automatic 4 speed box i understand, when driving off drives but then loses gears, then have to turn off engine then start again then drives a little but does not go into any other gears. any ideas?
Hi Paul, The heat exchanger could be where your coolant is lost. Unfortunately it doesn't do the box any favours ie.shedding friction material from clutch plates and clogging the filter. I have seen this fault a few times. For specialist near you www.fedauto.co.uk

I have a ford galaxy 2.3i automatic, currently it looses water every 5 miles or so but had it pressure checked no leaks but I also have a problem with the gearbox when i start drives about 50-60 yrds then no gears, i have to take the key out lock and unlock the car then it will drive again about the same i have tried driving in all gears and it does so dont think there is a problem with the gearbox could it be the oil cooler?

ps. the drain is in the pan. remove the level bung and inside that is the spill tube which can be removed (allen)not as in the other post. The level bung on the diff cover is for diff oil NOT ATF

The filter is blocked due to friction lining failure. Remove pan and filter. Cut open filter to verify. You then may get a short life out of replacing filter and ATF but on borrowed time

try changing your gearbox oil drain plug under n/s drive shaft towards front (allen key bolt) filler hole front side of gearbox half way up (allen key bolt )fill using ATF (automatic transmission fluid ) red in colour should take 3.5 litres to fill it
