Bypass or repair Cooker Hood circuit board?

Hi,

I have a cooker hood made/imported by PAB ltd UK (premium appliance brands). The model number is HDIG90SS. The company went bust last year and no-one seems to hold spares, I thought someone on here may be able to help.

A bulb blew and subsequently the fan still works but the lights do not. I opened it up hoping to find a fuse but all that connects the switches to the lights and fan is a small pcb.

There are a couple of resistors and transistors on the board, as I say the fan controls (four buttons, lots of wires are still working, but the lights do not respond to the switch.

Can anyone please suggest a way to either test the components on the board with a view to repairing it or alternatively how could I rig up the switch such that it would switch the 240v light supply (i.e. bypass the circuit board)?

Thanks

Rob

I have a Bosch Cooker Hood - DHE635B. The light bulb went last year and today none of the other switches for the fan extractor would work when I switched them on. I have replaced a fuse in the fused plug in the nearby cupboard but nothing is working. How do I know whether the circuit board or the actual extractor fan is broken.

I am a female and don't know anything about such things so could someone answer me in simple DIY terms please. Either way I can see this costing me a bomb to replace.

Many thanks

If the lights are indeed 240V and the hood has an easily reached external fused supply (with a switch) - if it were mine I would hard-wire the lamps to be permanently on and control them with the external switch.

You could have Lamps plus Fan or Lamps on their own
But not Fan without Lamps - a small inconvenience at worse.

I guess that the circuitry you mention is to control fan speed rather than lights on and off - I guess too that the switch that operates the lights has failed but the rest of the circuit board is good.
