Mend Chair Upright Position

How can i fix my reclining footrest it wont stay locked ?

My reclining chair will not stay locked in the upright position, when i use the handle it opens up i can rest my legs on it but i use the slightest of effort i can close the footrest with my legs, the footrest wont lock anymore
