Toro rider runs great but stops when you put it in gear or ingage blade?

i did a comeplete tune up and it runs great. put it in gear or blade it stops running.i got it free from a friend he by passed the seat safty could that have anything to do with it

It is a micro switch issue, you need to find out why and how it was by passed, faulty micro switches should always be replaced, they are there for your saftey, some switches are neutral open, others are neutral closed so it is not always just a case of putting a jumper wire in.
