electric recliner went back but wouldn't go down?

I put the electric recliner back no problem, but I think I may have put it back too far, as it has now got stuck and won't go down. It clicks but nothing happens. Tried putting batteries in but that didn't work either. Any suggestions how to fix it? Make and model to follow.
