esl 6115 not working?

it will not accept a program other than 50 degree eco which is the default cycle and wont start when the door is shut
once i realised this i simply pushed the door to and it ran for 5 seconds and then stopped

if you press in and hold the power on button, are you able to select programmes? use a cocktail stick to wedge in the power on button, set the programme and close the door. Order a new control module (£105) or a box of cocktail sticks (55p)
