How do I replace the brushes on my BRAUN KM32b?

After 38 years, it didn't start last night. It never failed before, and this was a total surprise.
I have repaired other kitchen appliances before, and suspect power cord or brushes wear.
Before I open up the motor housing, is there anything specific to the KM32 I should know? Are the brushes a standard size - or close to one - available today?
