Mend Whirlpool AWM5125/4 Replace Difficulty Removing

How do I replace the bearings on my Whirlpool AWM5125/4?

Found spares for the job but now having great difficulty removing the old bearing. Is there a trick or tool that can help me to get them out of the housing? I was told by the man supplying the new part thay its a case of brute force and ignorance, but they just wont budge!! Can anyone help PLEASE!!!
