Mend Wire Fan Light

How do you wire an extractor to two independent lights?

I have two lights in my bathroom which work off two switches. I have put in an extractor fan and want the fan to come on when either light is turned on. Of course i have got two switched lives but only one live to the extractor.any ideas.

And if I were doing it I would permanently attach the wires to the relays with solder - and a terminal strip for the external connectivity.

Whoops - I have let you down due to a mistake - take the relays back - the ones I suggested were for DC operation to switch AC power - DO NOT USE THEM - sorry.

You need a relay that operates on AC power - a little more expensive.

Do not worry about fitting - just secure them to a piece of plywood with silicone sealant and a couple of cable ties and wire up.

You will need a Neutral and Live as well as two switched lives from the lights and a combined switched live from the relays. A terminal strip with 5 connectors.

My sincere apologies about the wrong reference.

I think you will need the JG60Q relay at £4.59 each on this page...

Thanks peccavi, i have just bought the two relays you suggested and these look like they are for a curcuit board. Any ideas how i should attach 1.5 mm wires to them?

Take each switched live to a miniature, mains-operated realay (two relays) each will operate independently as its respective lamp is turned on.

Route permanent live to each realay to be switched out - link the two outputs together - use this composite, switched live as the turn-on signal for the extractor fan.

It's a lot of bother. The relays will cost about £2 each
