I can't help either but mine has just blown my trip switch for the sockets and I took it to my mothers as she has one also and it blew the base on her's aswell - I'm going to bin it!

Sorry I can't help with your problem but the same has just happened to mine. 16 months old !!
Am going to try to find the correct star-drive tool to get into the base.
